About Our Study
Study description
We are conducting a 12-month, NIH-funded, randomized controlled research study with 368 participants.
We seek to compare the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a fully-automated digital diabetes prevention program to standard-of-care, human-coach-based diabetes prevention programs.
What is involved?
We will ask you to complete 3 study visits over the course of 12 months (baseline, 6 months, and 12 months).
Home study visits are an option for participants recruited from Johns Hopkins site.
You will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to 1 of 2 groups:
One group will get a smartphone app that will send personal messages to encourage healthy habits, as well as a digital body weight scale that will sync with the app.
The other group will receive standard of care, which consists of referral to a local diabetes prevention program (in-person or video conference sessions).
We will ask you to wear a physical activity tracking device (Actigraph) on your wrist for 7 consecutive days once per month.
